Selling on one platform

Book authors need to understand that there are several mediums for book selling. As a first timer, Amazon is not the only channel you can use to sell your book. Relying on one online distributor hides you from the vast chunk of book readers.

Display your book in several outlets such as Apple Books, iBooks among others to reach out to as many readers as possible. Do not ignore the other platforms as you could find loyal readers. Amazon is a big player but millions of books are sold in other platforms as well.

Waiting Until the Launching is Done

That is one error you should never make when launching your first book. Typically, marketing should commence way before the book is launched like say six months. During this time, network with people, interact with them, let them know you and your future ambitions as you plan on how to promote the book.

These efforts should be considered earlier on as you want to bring up a fuzz and anticipation for the book before it is launched. Creating a small buzz of readers will ultimately lead to a bigger buzz eagerly waiting for the book to launch.
